OUR TRAINING CENTER:

International Training Center for Air Control (CIFCA)

The CIFCA trains the Ground Control Interceptors of the air forces. Located at the Mont de Marsan Air Base 118 since 2017, it transfers the expertise of the French Air and Space Force to partner countries. It offers a wide range of training courses and solutions that meet NATO (Grades 1 to 3) and non-NATO recommendations.

WHAT IS AIRSPACE CONTROL AND GROUND CONTROL INTERCEPTION (GCI)?

  • Airspace Control encompasses the capabilities and procedures used to increase operational effectiveness both civil and military, by promoting the safe, efficient, and flexible use of Airspace.
  • Radar stations are part of a C2 chain where are issued directives for Ground-Controlled Interception (GCI). GCI is an air defense tactic whereby air interception controllers provide continuous instructions and guidance to the fighter jets, notably the location and the course as well as any other relevant information of an airborne threat, for its interception. This information can be issued either bystandard or crypted radio communication or by data link transmission.
