    Objectives

    • Understand the fundamental principles of Safety Management Systems (SMS), so as to be able to implement and manage an SMS within your organisation.
    • Be trained on the essentials of the SMS toolbox.
    • Have the basic knowledge necessary to attend the training courses : HF, TCOM, PS and SRM.

    Audience & Prerequisites

    This course is aimed at professionals involved in safety management in a variety of activities such as design, manufacturing, operations, airport management, continuing airworthiness and training. This module is also intended for operators and managers in high-risk activities outside the aviation sector.
    This course is the common core before to attend the 4 other components (HF, TCOM, PS and SRM).

    Multinational course, English intermediate level (B1/B2).

     

    Course content

    This module provides the essential knowledge needed to implement Safety Management Systems:

    • Basic safety concepts: hazard, risk, accident mechanism, systemic causality model.
    • Regulatory references: SMS fundamentals, responsibilities, ICAO, EASA, State aviation authority.
    • Presentation of SMS toolbox: information flow, risk management, feedback, safety analyses, Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
    • Safety culture.
    • Animation of a SMS.
